There are a number of good eateries in Barmouth. This small guide are some of our personal favourites but there is plenty to choose from....... but if we had to choose Last Inn for an evening meal, Mermaids for Fish and Chips and Knickerbockers for Ice Cream!
If you have a special occasion we recommend that you book in advance, especially in high season.......
Whilst pubs and restaurants are closed for sit down services, many of our venues have continued a take away service. The service available is changing on a day-by-day basis as our local businesses start to open up further. Our town council have been maintaing a list of which shops are open in Barmouth, so the best way to check what is available is to visit https://www.barmouth-wales.co.uk/businesses
Seaside Classics - Ice Cream & Fish and Chips
There are several fish and chip shops in town and they are all good, my personal favourite is The Mermaid, just down from the rail station. They were awarded best fish and chips in North Wales in 2014 and 2015. Well deserved!
Pubs and Evening Meals - Our Favourites
Last Inn, the pub with character defintely worth at least one visit. We do recommend that you pre-book, even out of season the pub can get busy. Tuesday and Friday night is music night great fun but do book! This is our favourite place .........

Min-y-mor is on the seafront and has the best beer garden in town with views overlooking the beach. Perfect for a relaxing sunny lunch.
Bistro Bermo is a small intimate restaurant in town. It is referenced in the Michelin guide and is perfect for special occasions. It is very small with only a few tables and not open every day of the week out of season. So give them a call and book well in advance Tel : 01341 281284
Our favourite Indian is Indiana Cuisine in Fairbourne. It really is something special. You probably dont want to drive ........whilst you can see Fairbourne across the estuary the drive is a good 40 minutes. It is about 2 miles away (flat the whole way) by bike or foot and conveniently the train from Barmouth stops pretty much on the door step of the restaurant. Although if you plan to use the train make sure that the restaurant knows when you book and keep an eye on the time!
If you want a really good steak, the best is the Gatehouse Steakhouse in Dolgellau. A 10 mile drive but well worth it. The restaurant is right on the main car park so really easy to find. Tel : 01341 422008
Ebenezeer Chapel, is a quirky establishment with ethnic food in historic surroundings. The eating is in the middle of arts and craft shopping, so be prepared for shoppers circling ......
Additional places to eat within Barmouth
The Bank is a new restaurant in town. Do expect to pay restaurant prices. Tel : 01341 281400
Myrddins Bar Cafe is a small eatery with a great selction of loacl beers and ciders. The portions can be smaller than elsewhere in town but this is reflected in the price, so do not be put off just - have a starter as well ...... Tel : 01341 388060
Davey Jones Locker is the most famous Cafe in Barmouth. It is on the harbour front and only 4 doors away from Harbour Lights. They do amazing breakfasts, so if you fancy a cooked breakfast but cannot be bothered to cook, this is an excellent choice. It goes without saying that their views are equally amazing ..........
There are a number of other cafes in town. They all serve a variety of sandwiches, jackets and panninis. They can get busy, so plan your lunchtime eating, also be warned that many of them don't have toilets so be prepared ...........
