In and Around Barmouth

There are a huge variety of activities within the area and we cannot possibly mention them all, here, but here are a few tasters for you ...........................look here for activities for young children.

Barmouth has some amazing events ranging from kite festivals, country and western festivals and a dedicated two week walking festival in September. The Barmouth website has a great overview of the area and the events.

There is incredible walking and cycling in the area. For a family cycle try the Mawddach Trail, over the famous Barmouth bridge and out towards Dolgellau. For the more adventurous, Cader Idris is an amazing walk. We do leave ordinance survey maps for you to use and I am sure we can find some time to talk you through some walks if you let us know what you are after.

For something more adventurous Coed-y-Brenin is just a short distance away. This provides world class mountain trails for all levels and includes family trails. There are also some great walks with views of waterfalls and cafe facilities.

There is also a Go-Ape on site providing adventure in the trees.......

Why not try some paddle boarding from the Barmouth harbour. This is great fun and I strongly recommend it, book in advance to avoid disappointment. The instructors provide everything that you need, including wet suits and life jackets. They have taken out all ages and it is certainly something different to experience whilst you are here.

Or you could book a flight from the Llanbedr airfield just 10 miles away and see the coast from a higher vantage point.

For the VERY adventurouse Blaenau Ffestiniog has a Zip World Centre, which includes Europes first 4 person zipwire and how about an underground cavern with trampolines and a new forest roller better like heights and be prepared  to scream! Blaenau Ffestiniog is about a 45 minute drive from Barmouth.

Surf Snowdonia is an inland surf lagoon, an hour and 20 minutes drive but a unique experience. Grab a surf lesson or have a play around in their 'Crash and Splash' lagoon.

For something slightly different, why not visit the Centre for Alternative Technology at Machynlleth. Educational and fun. This centre is about a 45 minute drive from Barmouth.

Port Meirion is a beautiful village, famous for being the location for the 1960s cult programme 'The Prisoner'. It has beautiful gardens and sits on the glorious coast-line. Approximately a 40 minute drive from Barmouth.
